Rise

An intimate coming-of-age story about America’s first climate refugees, RISE follows the last two teenagers on a sinking Louisiana island as their indigenous community searches for higher ground and a new place to call home. Working with executive producers Darren Aronofsky & Sigrid Dyekjaer and the team behind the Award-Winning Short Film Lowland Kids, SAVEARTH Studios is proud to be supporting a feature-length documentary to tell this moving and timely story.

This feature doc follows 23-year-old environmental activist and filmmaker Sam Bencheghib as he runs across the United States from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean to raise awareness of single-use plastic pollution in America. Sam’s adventure across the continent has him running a near-impossible consecutive 117 marathons in the first-ever running shoes made of recycled plastics. His meetings with politicians, corporations, schools and local people are captivating, funny and provocative.
